Julie Vasquez - Administrator

In December of 1996, Julie Vasquez, a wife and mother of two small children took a part-time night and weekend position at a new assisted living home in Branson West.  Wedgewood Gardens became Julie’s home-away-from home as she worked her way through every position in the building: personal caregiver and certified medication aide, activity director, trainer, bookkeeper, and dietary supervisor. From the beginning, her family has been involved at Wedgewood Gardens as well. Her husband worked as the first maintenance worker and her children helped with odd chores and, when her daughter turned 16, resident care.

When Wedgewood Gardens sold to The Cottages Assisted Living, based in Eagle, Idaho in early spring 2014, Julie was the obvious choice to ensure that the unofficial motto “Do things the Wedgewood way”, or doing all that we can do to “Treat People Right”, would continue. Julie’s years of growth and experience at every level put her in the perfect position to apply for, and successfully complete, the State of Missouri’s requirements for an administrator’s license and oversee operations at Wedgewood Gardens.

When asked why she has stayed with Wedgewood for over twenty years, Julie responds “Our residents and our staff are my family. I lost my parents before I started working with Wedgewood.  With each person who comes through our doors, I take great pleasure in treating them as I would have had my own mother or father treated. Co-workers have been a blessing through the years and I enjoy working with our current staff who have years of experience with Wedgewood. That longevity of staff ensures great relationships and consistency in care.”

Julie is proud that much of the staff she trained, led or worked with over the years have gone on to obtain their nursing degrees; she boasts proudly of all of them including one who is now a nurse practitioner.

Julie states, “Wedgewood is a small home-like atmosphere and we are able to get to know everyone who lives with us; this makes us special.  We love visitors, our volunteers and we love our community. We invite folks in the area to stop by and say hello.”

Kellie McKenzie - Nurse

Assisted Living Facilities are only required to have nursing oversight 8 hours per week.  Wedgewood Gardens has chosen to go above and beyond this requirement by employing a fulltime L.P.N.

Kellie states, “I have been at Wedgewood Gardens for five years. I am originally from New Orleans and moved here when I turned seventeen years old to be closer to my family. In 2015, I fell into the medical field and graduated from the E.M.T program. I decided to pursue a nursing career because I wanted to provide more intimate care with people. My first job out of nursing school was at Wedgewood Gardens as the Assistant Director of Nursing. I fell in love with the residents and family-like atmosphere right away. I appreciate that Wedgewood is a small facility. I feel like the home-like setting has helped me build a trusting relationship with the residents and their families. I am now Director of Nursing over the facility, and am honored to work with a wonderful leadership team.  I am truly blessed to have such a rewarding job.

Sheila House - Community Outreach Coordinator

Described as having a “sassy wit”, by CEO Mark Maxfield, Sheila House is Wedgewood Gardens’ Community Outreach Coordinator.

Sheila enjoys promoting Wedgewood Gardens because “I believe in what we do; I am confident in what we provide. I appreciate the opportunity to find those individuals who are looking for a great quality of life and care in their later years.  I know that each day at Wedgewood Gardens is filled with loving care accented with fun, laughter, tasty food and an active social program.  We really do live up to our motto and ‘Treat People Right!’”

Working with Wedgewood Gardens is Sheila’s fourth career having spent many years running a medical clinic in California, and then a chamber of commerce followed a memory care facility in Missouri.  Sheila was the founding member of, and spent more than five years as the volunteer facilitator for, the Central Crossing Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group.  She considers herself an Alzheimer’s warrior, volunteers raising awareness of human trafficking, and is a teacher in her church.  Sheila has two sons, three grandchildren and is an avid gardener, reader and seamstress.
